The Baltimore Ravens added some additional arms to the quarterback room, on Tuesday, following the season-ending injury to Lamar Jackson. Although it wasn’t the splash that fans exactly had drawn up, they signed Kedon Slovis off the Green Bay Packers practice squad while also bringing back Austin Reed, who spent time with the team in preseason, to the practice squad. With Tyler Huntley dealing with a toe injury that will now end his 2026-2027 season, and Joe Fagnano battling an ankle issue the Ravens had little choice but to add depth, with limited time before they take the field Thursday Night against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Kedon Slovis joins the Ravens after spending time the past few weeks on the Green Bay Packers Practice. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2024, after a solid college football career, which at one point had him being projected at a first rounder during his time at USC. He has limited NFL experience, appearing in two games for Arizona last season, but he’s worked with Ravens QB coach Israel Woolfork, and can come in if needed. During this past preseason, Slovis completed 39 of 61 passes for 434 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, his best game coming against the Packers, where he threw for 223 yards, and they signed him after he was cut not long after.
Austin Reed could also come in and help get the offense moving given the flashes that we saw in preseason. Aside from that he gained valuable playing experience in the UFL, where he led the league in touchdown passes with 21. The additions of Slovis and Reed don’t solve Baltimore’s quarterback problem by any stretch, but they can provide depth on Thursday and be people that can run the offense efficiently if needed. The Ravens still have work to do to find a long-term solution for the quarterback this season and Eric Decosta should have his hands full in the break between Thursday night and when the Ravens take the field against the Chargers.
