Ravens Take Care of Business in New York

The Baltimore Ravens were the heavy favorite heading into New York to face the Giants and they didn’t disappoint, as they took care of the Giants 35-14.

Lamar Jackson gave fans a scare on the opening drive as he fumbled on the teams opening possession, however, the defense was able to hold the Giants to a punt as both teams exchanged possession of the ball. The Ravens were able to get on the board first with the help of Derrick Henry and Justice Hill pushing them down the field. Lamar Jackson was able to whiz a ball past two giant defenders and find Mark Andrews in the end zone to put them up 7-0.

The giants were able to make some plays with their next offensive drive, but were ultimately stopped on a 4th and 1 to give Lamar Jackson and the offense the ball back. On the next drive, Lamar Jackson found Rashod Bateman down the sideline who juked his way past two giant cornerbacks to get in the endzone, and put the Ravens up 14-0 with 10:53 left in the first half. The ensuing drive saw the Ravens defense commit four costly penalties to keep the drive alive. Giants took advantage of the free yardage and capped it off with a Devin Singletary one yard run to tighten the score at 14-7. The Ravens weren’t done with their scoring though, as they drove down the field with the 2 minutes they had left in the half, and Lamar Jackson found Rashod Bateman in the back of the end zone with 36 seconds left to take a 21-7 lead going into halftime.

When Tim Boyle entered the game in the third quarter (due to a Tommy DeVito concussion that kept him out of the second half) the Giants saw some of their best offense all game. Tim Boyle was able to make some throws that were needed to move the ball down the field, but the Ravens defense was able to hold them and eventually force punts. The next Ravens possession came with nine minutes left in the third quarter. The Ravens marched down the field with a heavy dose of Derrick Henry, and Lamar Jackson found Deontez Walker (who made an incredible toe tap to keep his feet in) in the endzone and extend the lead to 28-7 with 4:01 left in the third quarter.

The Ravens defense continued to hold the Giants to a turnover on downs on the ensuing possession, which gave the ball back to the Ravens offense again. The offense continues where they left off as Justice Hill led the charge and eventually capped off the drive by catching a 1 yard pass in space and trotted 30 yards into the endzone for the last Ravens touchdown of the day to put them up 35-7. The Giants were able to get another touchdown on the board with 6 minutes left to make the final score 35-14

The Ravens come back to Baltimore for what will be one of their most important games to date this coming Saturday December 21st for a 4pm matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
